The Battle of Chancellorsville was one of the Confederacy's greatest victories, but it would come at a horrible loss for the South. Lieutenant General Stonewall Jackson was wounded by friendly fire. A. P. Hill took temporary command of the corps until he too was wounded. Hill would cradle Jackson's head in his life, protecting him from missiles flying through the air and assuring him that he would be alright.
